One of the most noticeable and widely known parts of an automobile, the Steering Wheel is a crucial piece of everyday life. Designed to ease efforts required to turn a vehicle in one's desired direction, the Steering Wheel takes what would normally be an arduous task, and makes it easier. A sharper tool then, the Steering Wheel is a revelation, however akin to everything else, a sharper tool doesn't mean a sharp user, furthermore remaining useless if not in the hands of one, something that to this day portrays one of the human race's greatest conundrums.

People, ever since our fall from grace during the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, have been incessantly flawed, falling short of God's perfection through our sinning day in, and day out. Ever since God sent his son, Jesus, to die for our sins on the cross, however, we are free, no longer are slaves to sin. Ever since that eternal act, to sin or not to sin has been left up to us, a crucial choice, each with its own consequences that either bring us closer to god or further away.

"People might throw lots to make a decision, but the answer always comes from the Lord." Proverbs 16:33 [ERV]

All in all, it's hard to fathom the greatest contradiction we make everyday. We crave direction, but forsake to ask the one who knows all, created all, and manages all, forevermore. Who do we, as those whom are too tired to make an effort, too suggestible to avoid that website, or too forgetful to remember milk at the store, think we are to reject the wisdom of our creator in favor of the flawed version that is our own? As stated in Psalm 19:7-9:

"The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever."

We can rely on the Lord in our decision making. In fact, it's a necessity if you seek to make good ones. God knows everything, we don't, and we should keep this in mind when allowing our pride, skepticism, and fear get in the way of receiving the life giving guidance the Lord provides. In all your decisions, go straight to the Lord, praying over what he would have you do, and dive deep into his word until he gives you discernment over the situation.

If we don't listen to god, or neglect him in our decision making, we can expect failure. Explained in Proverbs 18:17:

"The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him."

If we want to fail, we can go ahead and take half-court shots in the dark at life, but our lives will look as ragged as our Field Goal Percentage. In the same vein, why would a race car driver purposefully aim to spin and drive into a gravel trap?

What do we gain by facing off against God? Nothing. If we want the life God wants for us, we need to deny ourselves and our ignorant notions and surrender our decisions to him. Then, and only then, will we be able to steer ourselves down the right path.
